It's been a while since my last post, so I figured I'd come back with a bang! That's right, Infestus is the latest Black Metal band up for review, and it's a good one!
Let me start by stating that I love how the atmosphere builds in this album. The record starts off ambient and soothing almost, and gradually builds up with a lone melodic riff in the background, grabbing the listener's attention, preparing him for one hell of a ride. The guitar tone is a delicious one, that fills the listener up, satisfying him infinitely.
Throughout Chroniken des Ablebens, there are ups and downs, slower-paced parts for emphasis, while bursting into steady, rhythmic pounding at others. Excellent songwriting skills.
As previously mentioned, this album builds atmosphere like nothing else; the riffs start lower and progressively get higher and higher, constantly building an epic/overpowering atmosphere, working towards enveloping the listener completely within the music. Riffs and guitarwork overlap and play upon each other, often giving off the vibe of a duet, once again, working together to build the colossal monument that is Infestus.
Unbelievable.
