Mocking The Philantropist (1997)

SWEET I just wrote out this long sensitive-dude diatribe regarding the inclusion of NSBM-related bands on TLD, but I just accidentally deleted it and now it's gone forever. So instead of cradling your delicate sensibilities twixt my fatherly arms and gently easing you into the sketchiest arenas of black metal, I'll just go the exact opposite direction and throw you to the lions.

Here's the deal: Grand Belial's Key have a pretty big problem with a bunch of stuff: mostly Christianity, Judaism, Islam, annnnd just about every other organized religion on earth. They make this very clear by penning extremely hateful songs aimed predominantly at the aforementioned groups. Bogus nazi values aside, they also happen to write awesome raw black metal riffs that somehow manage to neutralize the repulsive lyrical content enough to warrant many repeat listens of their albums. Fortunately, it's incredibly difficult to take dudes called "Gelal Necrosodomy" and "The Black Lourde of Crucifixion" seriously, so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hold off on that NSBM recruitment application for a while.

GBK contains members of Arghoslent, who are also awesome and terrible.
