I sort of hate the super-polished editing of contemporary skateboard videos. They all seem drowned in too-quick cuts, forced lines, and bad/dramatic music, which is probably why I never buy them anymore. If it were up to me, all skate videos would be exactly like Rubbish Heap, but I realize videotaping professional skating on your dad's antiquated VHS recorder is probably frowned upon in the industry. Still, after watching these B-Sides of the the new Emerica video 'Stay Gold', I realized that what I liked so much about some older videos was the complete lack of music, seeing a hard-fought battle to get a trick, and actually absorbing a little bit of the skater's personality through his part. If you only have time to watch two of these, make it Brandon Westgate and Andrew Reyolds. Shit is ridiculous.
