Wow, I've been a part of this blog for how long? And I neglected to post some Zeuhl in the form of Shub-Niggurath? I must be insane. However, not as insane as this music. What we have here is eternal darkness; summed up in two words "haunting" and "disturbing". Probably one of the scariest and darkest albums I've come across yet. Anybody who knows anything about Zeuhl knows about it's chaotic and bizarre nature, and as I like to put it: "Avant-Garde on steroids". Yeah, this is not for the weak at heart or casual music listener, for you will see no appeal in this music. Only the true connoisseurs will be able to appreciate this masterpiece of monumental proportions.
A vast variety of instruments are used here, including piano, trombone, guitar, drums, and a whole mess of other vague instruments, all working together to create a magnificently brooding tone, enveloped in the deepest crevasses of endless darkness. The piano is used quite a lot and quite erratically and when combined with the seemingly random riffing and haunting vocals, a terrifying atmosphere is created. The vocals are done by a female and holy shit are they out there. Very high-pitched soprano-like, with no apparent melody, it's just awesome. Fits so well with the music. Some passages also remind me of Resident Evil 4 when you're in the medical facility - you get those bassy/low-tuned guitars strumming every few seconds, creating the ultimate feel of impending doom.
Highly recommended.
