Impressive ambient black metal from Germany. The album opens up with "Der Sturm" and starts off with a melancholic, "falling" sort of riff that is an excellent representation of the mood of Geburt and what's to come. Throughout the album, the listener is subject to alternating ambient vs. black metal parts, providing great contrast and working together to create beautifully sculpted tracks. Nearly every track is well over 10 minutes long, allowing for some serious creativity and flexibility within this particular style. The riffs are all mid-paced and quite engrossing. The vocals also work well, and there appear to be multiple vocalists all talking to each other, really keeping this music moving along. A fantastic debut full-length from these guys! Can't wait for more!
