A hidden gem; this demo has gone underlooked and unrecognized long enough. There are so many good things about this album, so let's start with the guitar tone. Tone is very important for me in any metal release, and Veil certainly picked one hell of a perfect guitar tone for "Dolor". A thick, intoxicating, overwhelming tone, brimming with unintelligible fuzz and reverberation really envelops the listener, adding to the emotion.
"Dolor" is a slower-paced demo, with simple drum patters and a dragging sensation, but that's the way it should be. You don't need technical and brilliant instrumental work to put together a good hunk of music, and these guys are the proof to back up that claim. It's not often you'll come across honest black metal such as this. They know how to do it, and do it well.
