Chances are you've heard of this band if you know anything about At The Gates. This is where vocalist Tomas Lindberg started out, and I personally enjoy this SO much more than the overrated At The Gates. The vocals pretty much dominate this release, and that is a great thing, seeing as I thoroughly enjoy Lindberg's raspy growls. He sounds similar to his At The Gates work, but much darker, more ferocious and, well, blacker. The guitarwork features quick, sharp riffs a la Slayer and the drumming is also unrelenting.

A very chaotic release, it sometimes gets messy and out of control, but even to trained ears, it sounds completely natural because the sloppiness fits the style of music so perfectly. An incredibly fun release. "Incantation" is the highlight track.
