Melencolia Estatica's debut self-titled has been on heavy rotation for months now. I only discovered this band about half a year ago, but they have already left quite the impression. This album displays some of the best depressive black metal I've ever heard. It starts off strong and fierce, while slowly drifting into melancholic territory. Beautiful interludes and bridges flow seamlessly and majestically, sometimes gently tugging, and others vigorously yanking you from your very foundations. Just when you think all is calm, the vocalist lets out an anguished cry and the guitars pierce you deep within. I can truly feel the agony and depression in this outstanding album.

The entrancing guitar tone and melodic riffs work together, backed up by a prominent bass line, creating a unique listening experience that will be refreshing to even the most weathered and battle-hardened ears.

Short, only a half an hour long, but after listening, you'll be left desperately begging for more.
