Hailing from Italy, Urna plays a VERY dark and enigmatic type of Black Metal. Calling forth a variety of different elements such as funeral doom and ambient, Urna tries and succeeds immensely in creating their gloomy and creepy atmosphere. In fact, this entire album is 100% atmospheric, and you can definitely tell that it's the main focus of the release. The cover art depicts it perfectly, showing some sort of ancient tomb; the details are fuzzy and makes the listener curious about what the album entails.
Not many albums are a bona fide creepy (I remember saying the same about Impavida), but this is one of the few. So many bands try and fail, but Urna somehow managed to scare the pants off me with their music. Similar to others such as Nortt and Funeral Mist in style, they utilize keyboards, rumbling and towering vocals, and a hypnotic atmosphere to hammer home their dark evil. Very well done, so grab this album, wait until midnight, crawl deep into a dark cave somewhere and let the music flood your senses.
