Heh, been on a Psychedelic BM binge lately, in case you haven't noticed, and this is another phenomenal release from an unknown band. A very psychedelic album, I find myself hypnotized, entranced by the experimentation and the style of musicianship.

The album opens with a quick, unrelenting militaristic beat that sets the stage for what's to come. Tranquil interludes spackle this release, combining the sounds of guitar string scratching and white noise to give this album a particularly atmospheric sound. It really throws you out there, calming, yet violently disturbing at the same time. Great contrast.

Another contrasting aspect about this album is the vocals. Muffled clean vocals that seem to be disappearing into the background are fused with harsh vocals to give "In the Distance" a sort of "groovy" feel, for lack of a better word.

Fuzzy production and slow, chugging parts really bring out the psychedelia, making this an extraordinary release. I know the progressive tags sorta contradicts Black Metal, but I feel like this album is actually going somewhere, like it has a purpose. Remarkable.

10/10
