Another amazing find in my endless search for hypnotizing Black Metal. A nice touch to this album is that there's a slight rawness involved, which works very well with the slower paced rhythm. When an album combines those two methods of attack, the results are often pure and gutwrenching. Every shift in melody hits the listener like a bag of bricks, and the music sinks in very quickly and forcefully. I mean, how could it not, when each song hits you harder than the last?

The drums are outstanding, and the guitar cuts right through you. Double bass is utilized a little bit, but never in excess, leaving everything to balance out perfectly. Right when you think the drumming is starting to get overdone, a quick break pops in and the listener is graced with a beautiful ambient interlude. Put together quite nicely. The drums are key here, and actually command control of some songs, so check this out if you can't seem to get enough drumming in your Black Metal!
