The Reverend Horton Heat Discography

Posted by Deion-Slam Sunday, March 6, 2011 0 comments

The Reverend Horton Heat is the stage name of American musician Jim Heath (born 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas) as well as the name of his Dallas, Texas-based psychobilly trio. Heath is a singer, songwriter and guitarist.
The group originally formed in 1985, playing its first gigs in Dallas's Deep Ellum neighborhood. Its current members are Jim "Reverend Horton" Heath on guitar and lead vocals, Jimbo Wallace on the upright bass, and Paul Simmons on drums. Through relentless touring and a manic stage show, they have established themselves as one of the most popular underground acts in America.
Their sound is self-described as "country-fed punkabilly." Some of their songs could also be described as psychobilly. Their music is a mixture of country, punk, big band, swing, and rockabilly, all played loud and energetically with lyrics that are often very humorous. The band has achieved success within the genre and even in mainstream America with many of their songs being featured in video games and commercials.

This is all the psychobilly I have.

Th' Legenday Shack Shakers

Posted by Deion-Slam Thursday, October 21, 2010 0 comments

The Legendary Shack Shakers (originally Those or Th' ) are an American punk blues band. They are inspired by punk, Texas polka, Delta blues, rockabilly, gothic rock, and other traditional Southern music genres, formed in Paducah, Kentucky in the mid 1990's. The band originally had a more traditional rockabilly sound, but later moved away from this and now relies more on its rock and hillbilly influences. Founding member Col. J.D. Wilkes is the band's vocalist and also plays the harmonica. Musical maverick JoeBuck joined the band in the early 21st Century and played all the upright bass, guitars, and drums on the group's 2003 release, Cockadoodledon't. Wilkes is noted for his wild stage antics, which have been compared to those of Iggy Pop, David Byrne, and Jerry Lee Lewis. JoeBuck left the band in late 2003 and began touring and recording with Hank Williams III. Duane Denison, member of recently reformed The Jesus Lizard (and formerly Hank Williams III) currently plays guitar for the band.
